KALANI FALCONS ASSOCIATION
Rules & Guidelines 2017

1. Kalani Falcons Association (KFA) will utilize the Oahu Pop Warner (OPW) Island Wide Registration Form to signup
player and cheerleader candidates on a first-come, first-served basis (OPW Rule).
2. Out-of-boundary players must complete a Player Release Form before sign up of the registration process (OPW Rule).
The District waiver must be signed from another Association to guarantee a spot on the selected division.
3. Once a division reaches its maximum roster size, that division will close and no other registration forms will be
accepted for that division. No waiting lists are allowed (OPW Rule).
4. The Head Football and Cheerleading Coaches are responsible for all players and cheerleaders on the field. Please be
prompt when picking up your child at the end of practice. Any time a player or cheerleader is left with a coach,
OPW counts that as part of the practice time and this may limit the amount of time your division will be allowed to
practice on the next practice day. Coaches are NOT responsible for players and cheerleaders after they are dismissed
following the end of a game.
5. Proof of satisfactory academic eligibility is required. Players must show proof of a 2.0 GPA (70% passing grade) as
required by OPW. All players and cheerleaders must maintain a 2.0 throughout the season. Academic progress
checks will be conducted throughout the season. If a player or cheerleader falls below the acceptable 2.0 GPA
during the season, the player/cheerleader will not be allowed to practice or play until a Scholastic Eligibility Form
is filled out and submitted. Scholastic Eligibility Form will be signed by a school administrator stating that the
child will benefit from participating in the Pop Warner Program. The form allows us to monitor the progress of
the child so that they maintain a minimum standard and understand the value of academics in conjunction with
athletics. If player/cheerleader fails to maintain a 2.0 GPA, the player/cheerleader will be removed from the team.
If dropped from the team, no refund of registration fees will be allowed.
6. OPW and Kalani Falcons Association has implemented the following consequences for inappropriate adult behavior
such as berating or threatening players, cheerleaders, coaches, and/or referees before, during or after a game, etc.:
• 1st warning - the adult (a relative or family friend of a player/cheerleader) will be asked to leave the game with
the player/cheerleader;
• 2nd warning - the player/cheerleader will be banned from the rest of the season;
• 3rd warning - the player/cheerleader will be banned from participating the following season.
7. At the time of the final certification, players must be moved to the appropriate division or be cut if that player weighs
3 lbs. more than the maximum weight or 3 lbs. less than the minimum weight for the selected division. There are no
weight requirements for cheerleaders.
8. FULL refund on or before August 1, 2017. Any registered player or cheerleader, who decides NOT to participate in the
upcoming season within the first 10 days of conditioning, will forfeit $100 from their original registration fee and the
remainder refunded. No refund after ten (10) days of conditioning. If a player or cheerleader is denied a district waiver
from another Association the full registration fee will be refunded. No refund if a player does not make the weight
certification requirements. Other than the reasons listed above, all registration fees are non-refundable. Please allow 2-
3 weeks for delivery of refund.
9. Failure to return all equipment issued to player will be subject to applicable replacement cost and notification to
OPW for restrictions to future registration.
10. All bounced checks will be assessed a $30 fee. Thereafter, only cashiers check, money order or cash will be accepted.
11. ____ (Initial) A parent of the player must provide eight (8) hours of community service within the Kalani Falcons
Association season. Community service may include but not limited to MPR, Chain gang, fields set up & clean
up, video coordinator, banquet committee, team mom, and/or working KFA concession stand. Failure to meet
hours will result in consequences. Consequences may include but not limited to a fee of $100 or player not
participating in game(s). The board of directors will make the final decision.
